Everyone could stand to know a little bit more about art history. And this is where I would like to introduce you to my baroque friend, Caravaggio. Like most historical figures that I admire, this Italian was no stranger to brawls. In between painting, he would like to swagger around with his sword and cause a ruckus. Eventually he killed a mofo.

Carvaggio used tenebrism which is using lots of contrast (as in light and dark) to achieve a very dramatic, theatrical effect. What I like about his works is the gory stuff he painted! My personal favorite is Judith Beheading Holofernes 1598-1599.Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Antica, Rome. Awww snap!
