Luck o tha Irish

irish

Something that has always grinded my gears is the ubiquitous phrase “luck of the Irish.” Especially in the green month of Mars, March, radio DJs and elementary school teachers, heavily pepper their conversations with it. Who the hell ever said the Irish were lucky? Please see a time line above of the misfortunes for these four leaf clover toting, rainbow venture capitalists, ruthless car bombers.

Should we also say luck of the Native Americans?

Luck of the Mayans?

Luck of the Babylonians?

So how in the Lord’s name did these boogers get the idea that they were some how favored by the Gods? The incongruity of it all. And to top it all off,  some kids stole that damn leprechaun’s Lucky Charms and ain’t giving them back.
